Fahad Al-Rajaan

Hello and welcome to the blog of Fahad Al-Rajaan on the topic of Kuwait.

The country of Kuwait is perhaps best known in the modern world for conflict with Iraq, both during the Gulf War in the early 1990s and as a springboard for the US-led Iraqi invasion more than ten years later. But this blog has been established to take a closer look at the other side of Kuwait, exploring the culture, food and history of the country, as well as places of interest to visit. As a supporter of Kuwait, Fahad Al-Rajaan aims to use this blog as a resource for travellers to the region, containing all the relevant information that they might require, including advice on where to go and what to do to get the most out of this economically rich country.

The top menu bar helps you navigate through the different parts of the site, and within each page a further menu to the right lists all blog posts by title for you to browse. If you are looking for specific information you can type a keyword into the search bar or select from the categories section.

Within these pages you can expect to find posts exploring Kuwaiti culture, for example the home-grown theatre popular in the country (Kuwait is the only Gulf country to have a theatrical tradition). There will also be posts discussing the modern arts movement, featuring names such as Mojeb al-Dousari, who is recognised as the earliest visual artist and the founder of portrait art in the Gulf region. You will be able to find out more about the country’s literary renaissance, as well as Kuwaiti soap operas - the most watched soaps in the Arab world.

This blog will feature traditional Kuwaiti cuisine, looking at how foods in the country have evolved over the years, and detailing some of the more popular dishes you can expect to find. There will also be advice on etiquette when dining out - or when invited to dine in someone’s home - and updates on various events and celebrations throughout the year.

For travellers to Kuwait there will be posts examining some of the most exciting, beautiful and interesting sights, such as the famous Kuwait Towers with their distinctive ‘sequin’ design, the Old Souk and various museums and galleries including the Science Center and the National Museum Complex. There will also be information on things to do in the country, including water parks, leisure parks and diving.
